Selling Online with PayPal
Frequently Asked Questions
What is PayPal?
PayPal is a secure online payment processing service. It allows a buyer to make a secure payment to a seller, online, instantly using either VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Switch, Solo or a U.S. bank account.
How does PayPal work?
PayPal collects the money from the buyer and holds it in an account for the seller (that's YOU), until the seller transfers the money out of his or her PayPal account and into his or her own local bank account. Credit card and bank account information is never shared by PayPal with either the buyer or seller.
Can my bank account be anywhere in the world?
No. You can transfer money from your PayPal account to your own bank account in one of the eligible countries. If you have a bank account in the United States, you may live in any country and transfer your funds out of your PayPal account and into your US bank account. If you have a bank account in one of the other eligible countries, you must live in that country, as reflected by your address, in order to transfer PayPal funds to your local bank account.
What if I do not have a bank account in one of the eligible countries? Can I still register with PayPal?
If you do not have a U.S. bank account and do not live in one of the other eligible countries, you can still make credit card payments using PayPal if you live in one of these countries, but you cannot transfer funds from a PayPal account to your local bank account. Lesson 1 will tell you how to obtain a U.S. personal bank account if you are neither a U.S. citizen nor a U.S. resident.
Can I leave my funds in my PayPal account and use them?
You can receive payments into your PayPal account even if you are not a verified PayPal member. You may leave the funds in your PayPal account and use them to pay other PayPal members online, but first, you will still have to register either a credit card (non-US members) or bank account (US members) with PayPal to access these funds. Until you are a verified PayPal member, PayPal freezes funds in your PayPal account.
Who owns PayPal?
PayPal is owned by eBay which is a publicly traded company. OnLineTeacher.info is not affiliated with PayPal.
How big is PayPal?
PayPal processed over US $25 billion dollars in payments in 2005. It has over 87 million member accounts worldwide. Over sixty percent of everyone selling on eBay uses PayPal to collect online payments.
What is the potential market for PayPal?
There are over 760 million Internet users and within the next one or two years, everyone will be clammoring to learn how to sell online.
How do I integrate the PayPal payment into my own web page?
PayPal provides you with a logo button to put on your web page. When the buyer clicks the button, information is sent from your web page to the secure PayPal server. Using this information, PayPal then collects the payment amount from the buyer and puts it into your PayPal account.
For OnLineTeacher's selling program, you will be provided with your payment page with the PayPal logo already on it. We've done the work for you.
Is there anything from preventing a person from reselling the 6 lessons without first paying for them?
Yes. OnLineTeacher.info keeps track of each lesson number you pay for. After you pay for all 6 lessons, we automatically grant you a license to resell the lessons. When anyone goes to your payment page and clicks the PayPal logo to pay you for a lesson, OnLineTeacher.info verifies your license. If you are not licensed, an error message will appear and payment will be blocked. If you are licensed, the payer will be redirected to the secure PayPal web site to complete the payment.
Is there anything to prevent a person from changing the names on the list of six names and substituting other names and links?
Yes. OnLineTeacher.info's automated program keeps track of the order of names and links in all of the lists. We can detect when a person changes the established order of names. The first time this happens, the reseller will have his or her license to resell automatically revoked and payments to that person will be blocked. No refunds will be available.
Is the money I earn from Selling Online with PayPal subject to taxes?
Money you earn from this program is no different from any other money you earn. You are still governed by the tax laws in the state and country where you file taxes. OnLineTeacher.info assumes no responsibility in giving tax advice.
After I register my local bank account with PayPal, can I later add another bank account in another country to my PayPal registration?
Yes. PayPal allows you to add multiple bank accounts to one PayPal registration. You may then transfer funds from your PayPal account to any of your bank accounts if they are in one of the eligible countries.
What if I do not have a credit card to pay for the six lessons? Can I still participate?
Yes. You can register and verify a bank account with PayPal in one of the eligible countries. After your bank account is verified, you can pay for each lesson from your bank account. Or you can transfer one lump sum from your bank account to your PayPal account, then pay for each lesson from your PayPal balance.
